Why do I not make €10 when I have a €10 free bet?

Most free bets are Stake Not Returned (SNR).

This means that the €10 from the free bet are not included in your winnings.

When we place a normal bet, we get our stake back. So, if you bet €10 on odds of 1,9 and the bet wins, you will get €19 back.

However, for 95% of free bets you will not get the stake back.

This means that if you have a €10 free bet you will only get the winnings and not the €10 stake back. Hence, if you bet €10 on odds of 1,9, you will get €9 back if it wins (10 x 1,9 = 19 – 10 (stake) = 9), but if your bet loses, you will not lose any money as it was a free bet.

How to increase profit from free bets?

You must bet on higher odds, preferably odds of 4 and above.

If you compare the two screen shots below you will see that both are free bets.

However, from the higher odds you make a profit of €7,91, while the lower odds only secure a profit of €1,80. As a rule of thumb, we can normally extract 70-80% of the value of a free bet. So from a €10 free bet we expect to make between €7 and €8.

It is not important that you know the math. Just remember to place free bets on higher odds to maximise your profits.

Why does all this matter?

In the above examples the difference in profit is €6,11 from a single €10 free bet.
