Have you accidentally layed too much?
Was your calculator set to ‘normal’ mode instead of ‘SNR free bet’?
Don’t worry, this has happened to all of us, and it’s not the end of the world!
So first of all, don’t panic. You will be able to sort this out easily with our Unwanted Lay Calculator.
Example of an Unwanted Lay
You had a €20 free bet, and you did everything right by filtering for matches with minimum odds of 4,00 in the Oddsmatcher, then clicking on the SNR(%) column, but then you forgot to click on ‘Freiwette (SNR)’ in the Oddsmatcher calculator.
So instead of the lay amount for a free bet, the Oddsmatcher (set to ‘normal’ bet type), calculated a lay amount of €18.54 for you (see screenshot below), which you placed with your betting exchange.
And then you realised something was not right.
Of course you could do nothing, and hope to benefit from your error.
How? You have effectively overlayed your free bet, so you would make more profit if your lay bet were to win, as your lay stake was higher than calculated.
With odds of over 4,00, this may well work out in your favour, as the lay bet is more likely to win than not.
However, if you want to stay on the safe side, you should rectify your mistake by placing a back bet with your betting exchange, to offset that part of your lay bet that you shouldn’t have placed.
For this, you can use the DoppelWetten Unwanted Lay Calculator. All you need to do is enter all the relevant figures.
How to use the DoppelWetten Unwanted Lay Calculator
First of all, you need to work out which part of your lay bet is the unwanted portion. For that, you should go back to the Oddsmatcher calculator and click the ‘Freiwette (SNR)’ button. Then deduct the lay amount shown from the lay amount you placed earlier, and you’ll have your unwanted lay amount. In this case, the unwanted lay amount is €2.45.
Now enter this amount as your lay stake in the Unwanted Lay Calculator, also enter the odds you placed the lay bet at earlier, then look up the BACK odds on your betting exchange for the same selection that you placed the lay bet on earlier, and the calculator will work out your back stake. Place your back bet with your betting exchange.
Your additional loss will be shown at the bottom right, but hopefully this will only slightly reduce your profit from your free bet, and you have now made your free bet completely risk-free again!
